Since 2004, the graduate students of the Virginia Tech Philosophy Department have organized and hosted the Virginia Tech Graduate Philosophy Conference. Every year, exceptional graduate student participants from PhD and MA programs across the country are invited to Virginia Tech's campus in Blacksburg, Virginia to present their work and receive feedback through commentaries provided by Virginia Tech's graduate students.
The Virginia Tech Graduate Philosophy Conference has been fortunate in bringing top scholars from a variety of areas in philosophy to deliver keynote addresses. Past keynotes have included Helen Longino, Simon Blackburn, James F. Woodward, Geoffrey Sayre-McCord, Jesse Prinz, Anjan Chakravartty, Michael Friedman, Graciela De Pierris, Robert Brandom, Ted Sider, Joshua Spencer, Graham Priest, and Russ Schafer-Landau.
